A Coma and a Heartbeat

The night was warm and Ghost had returned. It had been so long, his journeys taking him far and for months on end. But, when he returned, my soul would rejoice. The soul shard that I wore around my neck was always there to remind me that his wings would always wrap around me if I ever felt alone.

I won't forget that night because I was in the kitchen when he surprised me, coming up behind me kissing my head and getting Sake from the fridge.
I looked at him as he poured his first glass and I actually felt shy around him, it had been so long. So I asked if I could taste his Sake.

He gave me that smile, the one that always put one on mine, and I took a sip. Sputtering, not my thing, I made a face and he laughed softly, "Think you can handle it?" I shook my head and replied, "I think hot cocoa is more my thing, love"
He looked into my face and smiled,"ok, getting up and making it in a small pot. My favorite hot cocoa." Leaning onto his wings I watched as he melted the chocolate and added the ingredients.
There really is no words to describe the fragrance of the chocolate mingled with the scent of the crimson feathers only that my heart beats faster when I think of it.
I sipped it and he sipped his Sake, looking at me he grinned, "lets go for a flight."
I was so happy I drank down my Sake, "Ok...I'm ready"

Dancing I took his hand and walking we both stood on the edge of the night. The lights of the city casting brilliant reflections into the sky.

I love the way the wind felt on my face, the rush of his wings. Flying through the sky I could touch the Aurora Borealis as the colors swam by.
I didn't know this was going to be the last time we did this. It happened so fast that I still don't know what truly happened.
We were flying over Blood Moon Castle, and there was a flash of light. Something that seemed to pierce through him.

And then we were falling.
Falling

It seemed that with the last of his strength he vanished me to the entrance of Jade Wings.
The impact echoed through the quiet night sky and I vanished back.
Blood Moon had been damaged, but more than that Ghost lay injured and what seemed like in a coma.
The impact had rattled the occupants of Blood Moon. But, I had no interest in seeing Queen Jacey or her mate. So I did the best I could through my tears.

I vanished Ghost and I back to Jade Wings.
